Short answers to the questions that come up most often, in the Philippine context. Each answer links out to a fuller page where one exists: the beginner guide for handling and math, the sourcing guide, the cost guide, the side-effect guide and the bloodwork guide. Unfamiliar terms are in the glossary.
Nothing here is medical advice. For approved medicines, prescribing belongs with a licensed Philippine physician.
What are peptides?
Peptides are short chains of amino acids, usually up to about 50. Many act as signals in the body: insulin and GLP-1 are peptide hormones, and drugs such as semaglutide and tirzepatide are modified versions of natural peptides.
Are peptides legal in the Philippines?
It depends on the product. Registered medicines such as Ozempic, Wegovy and Mounjaro are legal with a prescription from a licensed pharmacy. Research peptides are not registered as medicines, and RA 9711 makes selling an unregistered health product that requires registration a prohibited act; 2026 enforcement cases have targeted sellers.
Do I need a prescription?
For approved GLP-1 medicines, yes: Watsons, Southstar and other pharmacies list them as prescription-required, and prescribing belongs with a licensed Philippine physician. Research compounds are not medicines, so there is no prescription route for them.
Is this site medical advice?
No. PeptideTalk PH is an educational wiki that summarises published research and Philippine regulatory status. It does not recommend doses; talk to a licensed physician before starting, stopping or changing any medicine.
How do I reconstitute a peptide?
Add a measured volume of bacteriostatic water to the vial, then divide the milligrams in the vial by the millilitres added to get the concentration. On a U-100 insulin syringe, 100 units equals 1 ml; the reconstitution calculator on this site does the arithmetic.
What is the difference between bacteriostatic water and sterile water?
Bacteriostatic water contains benzyl alcohol as a preservative, so its label allows repeated withdrawals from the same vial. Sterile water for injection has no preservative and is meant for single use. Bacteriostatic water is labelled not for use in newborns.
How long do reconstituted peptides last?
Most research peptides have no published stability data once mixed. As a reference point, US CDC guidance says an opened multi-dose vial should be dated and discarded within 28 days unless the manufacturer states another date. Keep mixed vials at 2 to 8°C and never freeze them.
Where are subcutaneous injections usually given?
The labels for approved GLP-1 pens list the abdomen, thigh and upper arm. Rotating sites is standard practice because repeated injections into one spot can cause lipohypertrophy, a lump that makes absorption less predictable.
How do I store peptides in Philippine heat?
Keep powder and mixed vials in the fridge at 2 to 8°C, in the main compartment rather than the door, and away from light. For brownouts, keep the fridge closed and have a cooler with wrapped ice packs ready; never leave vials or pens in a parked car.
How much do Ozempic and Mounjaro cost in the Philippines?
When checked on 26 August 2026, Watsons listed Ozempic from PHP 7,650 per pen and Mounjaro from PHP 11,650 (2.5 mg) to PHP 29,900 (12.5 and 15 mg). Each weekly pen holds four doses. Mercury Drug does not publish prices online.
Retatrutide, tirzepatide or semaglutide: which one?
Semaglutide and tirzepatide are approved medicines sold in the Philippines on prescription, and the choice between them is a clinical one for your physician. Retatrutide is still in phase 3 trials and is not approved anywhere; Lilly has said it plans to file with the US FDA in early 2027.
What happens when you stop a GLP-1?
In the STEP 1 extension, people who stopped semaglutide regained about two-thirds of the weight they had lost within a year, and cardiometabolic markers moved back toward baseline. Obesity medicines are studied as long-term treatment.
Do I need to cycle off GLP-1s?
The approved GLP-1 medicines were studied as continuous treatment in their pivotal trials, which did not test on-and-off cycling. Stopping and restarting is a decision to make with your physician, bearing in mind the weight regain seen after withdrawal.
How do I find a good supplier?
Look at where stock is held, how it is packed for Philippine heat, how you pay, and whether the seller answers specific questions without making medical claims. Avoid marketplace and Facebook listings for injectables; the sourcing guide has a full checklist.
What is a certificate of analysis (CoA)?
A lab report on a sample from one production batch, usually showing identity by mass spectrometry and purity by HPLC. It only means something if the batch number matches your vial and the named lab confirms it issued the report, and it says nothing about storage after testing.
How do I know if my peptide is real?
You cannot tell by looking. A white powder that dissolves clearly is consistent with a genuine product but proves nothing; only laboratory analysis of that vial can confirm identity and content, which is why the seller's handling and track record matter so much.
