Two kinds of label
There are two very different objects that get called a peptide vial in the Philippines, and their labels say different things.
An approved medicine comes with a label that a regulator has reviewed. The Wegovy label, for instance, states the product as a clear solution in a single-dose pen, lists each strength as milligrams per volume (0.25 mg per 0.5 mL up to 2.4 mg per 0.75 mL), carries a national drug code, and sits on top of a prescribing document that covers indications, dose escalation, warnings, storage and adverse reactions. Every number on it has been checked against the product.
A research peptide vial carries a label written by the seller. It typically gives a compound name, a weight in milligrams, a lot number, sometimes an expiry date and storage line, and the phrase "for research use only". None of it has been reviewed by anyone outside the seller, and none of it tells you how to use the product, because the label's premise is that you will not.

The milligram figure is a weight, not a concentration
The most common misreading is treating "10 mg" as if it were a dose or a strength. It is neither. It is the stated total amount of dry peptide in the vial.
Concentration only comes into existence when water is added, and it is entirely the user's decision:

The same vial, mixed three ways, gives three different meanings to a syringe unit. This is why every calculator on this site asks for both the vial weight and the water volume before it will say anything about units, and why a label alone can never tell you what a unit contains. A related trap: the vial's powder volume says nothing about its content. A few milligrams of lyophilised peptide is a thin film or a small cake at the bottom of the glass. "It looks empty" and "it looks full" are both meaningless.
Blended vials make the weight harder to read
A blend label such as "CJC-1295 + Ipamorelin 10 mg" states a combined weight. Unless the label splits it, you do not know how much of each peptide is present, and the ratio is the seller's choice. That matters because the two components have different published histories and different amounts were used in their separate studies. Lot number and expiry
A lot number ties a vial to a production batch. On an approved medicine it is the thread that a manufacturer and a regulator pull when a batch is recalled or a complaint is investigated. On a research vial it can only do that job if the seller keeps batch records and honours them, and a buyer has no way to confirm either from the label. It is still worth recording: if two vials behave differently, the lot number is the only thing that distinguishes them.
An expiry date on a research vial is the seller's estimate of how long the dry powder stays stable under stated storage. It is not a tested shelf life in the pharmaceutical sense. It also says nothing about the reconstituted solution, which is a different question. Once a vial has been entered with a needle it is a multi-dose vial, and the CDC's injection safety guidance cites the USP position that an opened multi-dose vial should be dated and discarded within 28 days unless the manufacturer states otherwise. Writing the reconstitution date on the vial is the practical habit that follows from that.
The storage line
Most research labels say some version of "store at 2 to 8°C" or "store lyophilised powder in a cool, dry place". Two things to know. First, the line refers to the unopened powder; after reconstitution, refrigeration at 2 to 8°C is standard for peptides regardless of what the label says. Second, in a Philippine household the label's assumption of a stable fridge is the weak point: a brownout of a few hours can push a household refrigerator out of that range. The diluent has its own label worth reading. Bacteriostatic water for injection, in the Hospira label, is sterile water with 0.9% benzyl alcohol added as a preservative, which is what allows a vial to be entered more than once with a fresh sterile needle each time. The same label carries a prominent warning that it is not for use in neonates, because of benzyl alcohol toxicity in that population.
What the label cannot tell you
An honest reading of a research vial label ends with the things it does not say.
- Whether the stated weight is accurate. The label is the seller's claim. Nothing on it demonstrates the claim, and this site does not assert the accuracy of any seller's label.
- What else is in the vial. The US FDA's reasoning for placing many of these peptides on its compounding safety-risk list rests on this point: peptide-related impurities and aggregation can be hard to characterise and may pose an immunogenicity risk by injection. That concern applies to the category, not to one supplier, and a label cannot resolve it.
- Whether any regulator has reviewed it. "For research use only" is a seller's statement, not a regulatory status. None of the research peptides in this library is registered with FDA Philippines. The FDA Philippines verification portal exists to check whether a product carries a registration; a research vial will not be on it.
- How to use it. By design. The label's legal premise is that the contents are not for human use, so there are no directions, no dose and no warnings. How to use this when comparing products
The useful comparison across research vials is not the marketing on the box but the four facts the label should state plainly: the compound name as it appears in the literature, the weight in milligrams, a lot number and an expiry date. A label that is vague on any of those is vague on the only things a label can be checked against.
